Bio

MEKA is a Kampala-based fine art illustrator, raised from humble suburbs of the city. He initially drew characters from comic segments in newspapers as a teenager before picking interest in graphic illustration to design his own pieces. MEKA’s fine art is contemporary and retrospective whirling around indigenous social and political measures. If not designing, MEKA is a filmmaker, Tv watcher, football fan and unorthodox researcher.

Work Process

My artwork takes a censorious view of social, political and cultural issues. Often citing African history, my illustrations explore the varying relationships between popular culture and fine art. Through various software like adobe illustrator I am able to design this fine art.
